Ken and Bev Merrill live in Vancouver, WA while Ken finishes up a degee program at Multnomah University across the river in Portland. They bring to our mission a wealth of wisdom, experience, and love for the people of East Africa. Ken and Bev served as Directors of the development and administration of a multi-million dollar mission project in Rwanda for several years. Ken also taught the Bible and preached during that time. Bev, a professional nurse, did medical work, trained staff, and taught English to the Rwandese. Ken served in submarines in the US Navy and served in and retired from the Alaska State Troopers. He was a private pilot and EMT II and served as an instructor and deputy commander at the statewide police-training academy for four years. Ken and Bev have always been interested and involved in missions through their local church—serving on mission boards, planning mission conferences and hosting missionaries in their home. Bev taught Sunday school and VBS and served in women’s ministry and Bible studies. Ken was saved through a missionary outreach in the Bush of Alaska and was baptized in Soldotna, Alaska, in 1987. Bev came to Christ just before moving to Alaska in 1975 and was baptized in Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1976. |
